Gaziantep
Gaziantep, formerly known as Antep, is a province and the eighth most populous city in Turkey. As of 2013, it has a population of 1,844,438.[1] It ranks first in terms of industry and development in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. In addition, Gaziantep is the oldest still inhabited city in Turkey and one of the oldest still inhabited cities in the world.[2] Besides these, Gaziantep also holds a very important place in Turkish industry and trade. The reasons for this include Gaziantep’s location between Anatolia and the Middle East and its proximity to port cities. Gaziantep’s symbols include Gaziantep Castle, baklava, pistachios, Zeugma and coppersmithing.
